Grandville Football Weekly Recap
Thank You
To the Grandville and Jenison communities for coming together for a
great cause. Together, we shattered the goal of raising $10,000
dollars for the Wounded Warrior Project. Not only did we honor
soldiers, vets and the United States of America with our play, we
presented honorary jerseys to family and friends of soldiers and we
raised over $23,000 dollars for people we don’t even know. The
lessons taught to our young people through events like this are
exactly what the high school experience is all about….preparing our
young people for the next level by instilling one of life’s greatest
values…Servant Leadership. Giving to others and sacrificing oneself
for the total benefit of another is the greatest gift of love one
human can give to our fellow man.
The homecoming game and this season have not gone as planned for the
Bulldogs, but the life lessons learned so far are incredible. To
watch young men fight, battle to the end and respond to adversity;
and still be UNIFIED is Awesome! The final challenge is to FINISH.
Finish what
you start.

Grandville Football Weekly Recap
Big week ahead for the Bulldogs
Many great activities planned for the student body, the players and
the community. Make memories this week and remember that we only
get one shot at life. Live it to the fullest and enjoy… Homecoming.
The focus this week is Homecoming, but it is also the Wounded
Warrior Project game. We will be honoring those who have served and
been injured fighting for one of the greatest gifts on the
planet...FREEDOM.
Please enjoy all that is happening this week, be focused on the task
at hand on Friday night, but also remember those who have given so
much for you to be able to play this great game.
Give of yourself for the total benefit of others, just like a
soldier.
“Never look at, touch or address another person in a way that would
make them feel small. Then and only then are you showing…“Genshai.”

West Ottawa
Tough loss for the Bulldogs. As coaches, we appreciate the effort
of the boys who never quit and kept fighting until the end. This
past week and this season have not gone as planned and the players
and coaches realize that each week, the battles of the OK-Red
Conference, are going to be arduous. Our job as coaches is to
prepare the boys for battle and the boys are to execute the plan;
that did not happen Friday. Mistakes were made; growth occurred on
each play, but getting over the hump is proving to be more difficult
than what was planned.
We will go back to basic and as we come down the backstretch of the
season, we hope to bring back players who have been injured, add
some new faces to the mix and finish with Bulldog Pride.
“It is never
as good as it seems or as bad as it seems. You are what your
response is.”

Grandville Football Weekly Recap
Game Three
What a game. I was so proud of our boys and our staff. The product
that was on the field Friday night gave me an even deeper sense of
focus in turning this thing around. The football players at
Grandville have Heart, Will and they want success. There are no
moral victories in football, but that display of fight and grit by
our players made me, once again, proud to be a Bulldog. We were
aggressive, we were physical and we were tough; all the components
of those who respond to adversity. The weak lay down.
That is the fight that I know is in all of us. Sure we are
disappointed, and we should be; but we can not settle for that
result. We must commit to change and getting better each rep, play,
down, series, quarter, half, game, day, week, month, and year.
“You get better each day or you get worse. You control your own
result. Excellence does not just happen…It is a choice you make
each day, each moment. Don’t be average…it is too easy. Look
around, everyone is average. Who wants to be average?”

Game Two
We would like to give credit to Ottawa Hills and Coach Ruffin. They
have some skilled players who presented unique challenges for the
Bulldogs. The focus for the week was to Respond to the adversity of
game one…for the Bulldogs this week, we did respond, but fell
short. After discussion with our team leadership group, following
film on Friday; much discussion focused on how “close” the team is
to getting over the hump. The same thought is shared by the
coaching staff and as we move forward, we will continue to do what
we have to get to the next level. We will be RELENTLESS in our
work, preparation and belief in the system and the players.
Players: Stay positive and remember that there will be many
detractors and those who want to pull you down.
Your family, your true friends and your coaches love you and only
want the best for you.
Enjoy the ride and make memories.
“When all is said and done, the people who truly care about you will
give of themselves for your total benefit. Those who don’t will
find fault in you and your supporters. Those around you will point
fingers and attempt to bring you to your knees. Take the Road Less
Traveled and RISE ABOVE.”

Grandville Football Weekly Recap
Game One
After months of work, sacrifice and effort preparing for the season
opener, the Bulldogs fell short of their goal Friday night. As
coaches, we are proud of the players for their fight and for the
drive to finish the game. Offensively we could not establish a
rhythm and could not keep our defense off the field. Defensively,
we were tired….game shape comes in time, but our defense was on the
field way too long and was put in a tough position to carry the
team. Special teams were highlighted by our punting/quick kick
units who helped to create huge changes in field position.
We will not look back.
Similar to the new Tradition in Grandville Football, we will lick
our wounds, and put the past behind us.
One Focus…Ottawa Hills
“The true measure of a man is his response to adversity and trial,
everyone can make it through the easy times, but how will you
respond when you are down.”
